Professional Leadership Academy & Network offers individuals a curriculum strategically designed to strengthen institutional knowledge, develop an appreciation for the importance of inclusion and cultivate core leadership skills.
During the the program, participants develop the necessary skills to create and lead effective teams, think strategically through complex challenges and environments, and move impactful initiatives forward.
PLAN will re-energize you. Your perspective about the university will be broadened, your network widened.
Professional Leadership Academy & Network participants will attend working retreats in February, April and September. Retreats are full days Thursday and Friday plus Saturday morning.
Throughout the year, attendance at monthly “Coffee chats” with vice chancellors, deans and other senior administrators is expected.
Training continues with challenging team projects. Senior leadership identifies key university challenges and PLAN participants work in small teams to develop strategic solutions. The PLAN experience culminates with the cohort presenting their recommendations to the university’s senior leadership.
PLAN applicants should be serving as key contributors currently in a leadership role within their departments. They should be committed to diversity of thought, perspective and identity – including an understanding of how inclusion strengthens the university.
Demonstrated communication and critical thinking skills are also expected. Additionally, an appreciation for and desire to further one’s knowledge of higher education’s complexities is expected. Contact the PLAN administrator with questions.
